Since I waded into the political fray with my stem cell post, here I go again...
I proudly proclaim myself a classic Northeast liberal. While I never thought I'd find myself wholeheartedly agreeing with someone who cut their ideological teeth on the evangelical right, this clip had me standing and cheering.

ReplyDeleteI used to be a Northeast liberal (that was over 20 years ago and pre-MS) but today I'm a proud West coast conservative who happens to be black and female, living in a very big "blue" state. But that's okay; my conservative core values have served me well - values that were there along - but kept under the rug many years. Maybe one day I'll write a book about my evolution towards conservatism. I wonder if D.L. Hughley would give me, an ex-liberal an interview? Nah, probably not.
ReplyDeleteI heard this guy being interviewed by Terry Gross on NPR a few months ago. I immediately drove to the book store to get his book. But I haven't had a chance to read it yet. That is some good footage.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Marc. I like this man's honest opinion. He's keeping no secrets. And gives some great insight on how people with opposite opinions of mine "tick". IMO, being fundamentally ANYTHING can be a dangerous position.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: I don't know if Mr. Hughley would give you an interview, but I'd certainly be interested in hearing your story. I've nothing against conservative viewpoints, but these days what gets labeled as "conservative" is often radical fundamentalism, which is dangerous and destructive in whatever form it takes.
